Frequently asked questions!
Q. What ages do you teach?
A. My youngest student is 8 years old and she has recently started. The oldest person I have ever taught was 59 years of age.
Q. How do I know my child is safe?
A. I work as a professional tutor with children. I hold an Enhanced CRB certificate and appropriate adults are welcome to sit in on lessons.
Q. Do you do 'one-off' lessons?
A. I'm happy to provide consultations on an 'ad-hoc' basis especially to prepare for exams, recitals and solos.
Q. Can you prepare me for my ABRSM or Trinity exam?
A. Yes - the choice of exam is for the student, although students don't have to take an exam if they don't want to. I may also be able to provide an accompanist if required.
Q. Do you teach groups or individuals?
A. Most of my students prefer the advantages offered by individual lessons, although group lessons are often appropriate, especially for beginners who often find it easier to learn together. There is also the financial advantage of reductions for group sessions.
Q. Which instruments do you teach?
A. I have experience of teaching all of the brass instruments, music theory and general musicianship.
Q. Is there anything else I should know?
A. I design every lesson especially for each student with special regard to the objectives agreed with the student. It is important that every student progresses at their own speed.
