Tuition!
With over 40 years of playing - including orchestral, band, small ensembles and solo work - and more than 30 years teaching experience, Ian is in demand as a teacher of brass instruments and music theory. Although a busy professional tutor, Ian has a very limited number of vacancies for regular private tuition in the Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes areas. Lessons are usually taken in your own home, so you have no need to travel, although you are welcome to take your lessons in Ian's home.
The lessons are carefully structured to the needs and requirements of the student. Many students are uncomfortable with the thought of taking ABRSM or Trinity exams and these are only taken if the student wishes to do so. If the student does not wish to take any exams the ABRSM syllabus is used as a guide to monitor the student's progress.
All that is required from the student is enthusiasm and a willingness to practice.
Special consultations to prepare for recitals, solos and exams may be available upon request. Ian has experience of teaching all of the brass family, so if you wish to learn any brass instrument (eg trumpet, cornet, french horn, trombone) or music theory, just get in touch including some details of any previous playing, musical experience (if any) and your musical ambitions. In addition, each student has access to an individual webpage which records their current studies, objectives and other comments, including a record of vouchers. Click here for an example.
Ian teaches pupils of all ages and holds an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate from the CRB to work with Children and Vulnerable Adults. More details and frequently asked questions are available from the link below. The current (2010) standard terms are £22.00 for a 40 minute lesson and £27.00 for a one hour lesson. Reductions are available for group lessons or by purchasing tuition vouchers through the tuition page.
